Odo Reggae (/ˈɒdɒ//ˈrɛɡ/) [1] is a musical genre that originated in Ghana, West Africa, and was born out of the fusion of High life music and Reggae by Fred Samuel Adjei Crawther, known professionally as Bongofari. Odo reggae describes some local fusions of African time signatures, jazz melodies, and reggae rhythms. It uses the melodies and main rhythmic structures of traditional African music but is usually performed in a reggae style. This Reggae is characterized by the use of jazzy horns, guitar, African percussions, and finger-striking guitar style, which is typical of reggae music. "Odo" is a Twi word that means "love" and the Odo Reggae genre may seems similar to the Lovers rock because of the "odo" word but its different - in how it is composed, arranged, and mixed and mastered. Odo Reggae touches on every topic too not only love - love, experience, pain, religion etc.

Odo Reggae gained popularity and the genre spread throughout Ghana because Bongofari's musical style blends melodic lyrics in Twi, English, and French, set against pleasing Highlife and reggae rhythms. His notable songs include 'Odo Reggae', 'Cherie Je t’aime', 'I'm Serious', 'Righteousness', and 'Freedom'. Bongofari can be considered as at now the only artist in Ghana and the world doing pure Odo Reggae.
