Mutale Mwanza is a Zambian television and radio personality, producer, entrepreneur, voice-over artist and former model.[1][2][3] She is 2014 Miss Universe Zambia first runner-up.

Mutale Mwanza was born on 22 October 1987, in Kitwe, Zambia. She attended her early education at Nkana Trust School in 1993, then in 2000 she proceeded to St Jones Covenant School and Benga Girls School where she had her secondary school till 2004. Muatle attained a diploma in Journalism at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation in 2009, and then did her internship at ZNBC Kitwe studios. After graduating from college, Mutale Mwanza moved to New York, United States to pursue a career in television journalism where she worked as a production assistant for news programs, including The Today Show and Good Morning America.[4]

Career

Mutale Mwanza began her career in 2007 when she joined Flava FM in Zambia where co-hosted a morning show called The Big Breakfast Show with Gesh Groove after which she joined Hot FM then left in 2021 where she hosted a popular show called Red Hot Breakfast Show.[5] While at Flava FM, listeners voted Mutale as the most popular female presenter whose prize was to travel to South Africa to feature on Channel O in 2009 thus beginning her career as a television host.[6]

In 2013, Mutale Mwanza launched, anchored and produced the first three seasons of a television show called ‘’Kumwesu’’ which airs on Africa Magic on DSTV becoming the first Zambian named and produced show on the channel. In 2016, Mwanza launched a podcast called ‘’The L Word’’ where she discusses a variety of topics, including pop culture, feminism, and social issues then in 2018 she began another show called “The Late Afternoon Show” then in 2017 she was appointed official female voice-over artist for GOtv Africa.[7]

In 2023 she Mutale began a reality television show called “Mutale Mwanza Unscripted” (MMU) in Lusaka[8] which is aired on Zambezi Magic[9][10] channel every Sunday.[11]

She is the host and producer of “The Late Afternoon Show” on Diamond TV in Zambia and also ‘’Will he say yes?’’ alongside South African comedian and actor Celeste Ntuli. She is co-host on Zambezi Magic’s Lifestyle show, Tuvwange Lifestyle.[12]

In 2021, she was nominated for the 2021 African Entertainment Awards USA then in 2022, Mutale was appointed as one of the ambassadors for Rihana's Fenty Africa.[13] Mutale is also the founder of the clothing line, “The Mutale Effect,”
