Monroe was a Swiss rock band from Basel, active primarily between 1976 and the early 1980s. The group is known for its hard rock sound and was part of the Swiss underground rock scene during that era.

History

edit

Monroe was formed in 1976, during a period when rock music in Switzerland was emerging. The founding lineup included Chris Klein (vocals, keyboards), Rick Lincoln (guitar), Vittorio Ferrari (drums), and Kelvin Bullet (bass).[1].

The band released its debut, self-titled album Monroe in 1978. While the album received limited attention, it helped establish the band in the local rock circuit. In 1980, Monroe released their second album, Censured, which included one of their more notable tracks, "Playing Good Music." This song brought them moderate recognition, particularly in Switzerland[2].

Despite their local success, Monroe disbanded in the early 1980s. Their two albums remain appreciated by fans of Swiss rock, and their work continues to be shared online[3].
