After Several Negotiation, Dutch and Padri Agree the Treaty. Terms of Masang Treaty[2] :

  • Both parties will not attack each other
  • The Netherlands is gradually banning the practice of chicken fighting
  • The Dutch recognized the authority of the Padri leaders in Batusangkar, Padang Guguk Sigandang, Saruso, Bukittinggi and Adam. The Netherlands also guaranteed the implementation of the religious system in the area.
  • Both parties (the Padri and the Dutch) would protect traders and people who were traveling.
