Mark A. Sammut Sassi (2 october 1973) is a Maltese author.

Early life and Education

Sammut Sassi was born in Malta on 2 October 1973, the elder son of Catherine née Cachia and author Frans Sammut[1]. He was educated in Malta at Stella Maris College, the Liċeo Vassalli, and the Liċeo GF Abela. He obtained degrees in law (LL.D. and M.Jur) and in translation studies (M.A.) from the University of Malta and in legal theory and legal history from the University of London (LL.M.). He studied diplomatic studies at the University of Malta, historical sociology at the London School of Economics and historical studies at Oxford University.

Activity as a writer

Sammut Sassi has written extensively on Maltese legal history (focussing on Criminal Law and Civil Law), consular law, and politics.

He also found documentary evidence that Maltese patriot Mikiel Anton Vassalli was not married.[2]

He used to write for the Malta Independent on Sunday, and contributes to Maltese newspapers In-Nazzjon and il-mument.

He is a translator from Italian to English for the Italian geopolitical journal Limes.

Teaching activies

Sammut Sassi teaches on a casual basis at the University of Malta.[3] His books are used in Universities, for instance at the Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania.[4]

Membership

Sammut Sassi is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society [5] and of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies.

Sammut Sassi is married and has a daughter, who has also written a book.[6]
