Marco Varvello - Italian journalist. He is one of the most well-known TV presenter and reporter in Italy. Currently UK Bureau Chief for RAI Italian Radio and Television

Marco Varvello holds a degree in Philosophy, and started working as a journalist at the daily newspapers ‘La Notte’ and ‘Il Giornale’ under Indro Montanelli.

Working for RAI he anchored the news for TG1 and served as curator and editor of the daily magazine “Il Fatto”, hosted by Enzo Biagi.

Since 2014 he has been the UK Bureau Chief for RAI Italian Television, based in London.

He previously served as RAI’s Bureau chief in Germany, based in Berlin (2006-2014), as News Correspondent in London (1997-2005) and in the US, based in New York.

He was awarded the “London Foreign Press Award 2018” by the Foreign Press Association in London for the best programme in a foreign language about the UK.

Varvello is also an author. He wrote the novel ‘Dimentica le Mille e una Notte’ in 2005, which won the Literary award  “Ado-Lisant” in Lille-Bruxelles. 

His most recent books are “Passo falso” (A false move/step), “Londra anni Venti” (London in the Twenties) e “Brexit Blues”. These three works form a trilogy – a News story (Passo Falso), a novel (Londra Anni Venti) and a collection of short fictional stories about the UK and Europe  (Brexit Blues)- based on his own experience in Britain and Germany and his dual citizenship (Italian and British).

Marco Varvello is a member of the FPA (Foreign Press Association) Committee in London and of the Board of the German-Italian Cultural Centre “Villa Vigoni”.
