Maddie Moreau (born December 5, 2000) is an American professional soccer defender who currently plays for Bay FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
Early life
editMoreau was born in Youngsville, Louisiana, and attended St. Thomas More Catholic High School. She won back to back state high school titles in soccer and basketball in 2018 and 2019, and in the latter season was named Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year for her performance in soccer. Shepherd played youth club soccer with Cajun Soccer Club.[1]
LSU
editMoreau attended Louisiana State University where she played as a midfielder for the LSU Tigers. In three seasons she had 56 appearances, scoring 3 goals and registering 5 assists.[2]
West Virginia
editMoreau transferred to West Virginia University ahead of her senior year, where she played as a midfielder and defender for the West Virginia Mountaineers. In her two seasons she played in 41 games, scoring 3 times and registering 2 assists.[1]
Club career
editBay FC
editMoreau was not selected during the 2024 NWSL Draft but was subsequently invited to join NWSL expansion side Bay FC's preseason roster. She was announced as officially signed on March 15th, 2024. She was singed for the 2024 NWSL season with an option for 2025.[3]
