M.Y.R.A. Entertainment is an independent motion picture company, based in New York, London, and Singapore. Founded in 2007 by producer and filmmaker Margarethe Baillou, the company's projects are distinguished by inclusive themes and a lack of graphic violence. Notable projects include the feature films Freud's Last Session (2023), Benediction (2021), The World to Come (2020), and Call Me by Your Name (2017).

History edit

M.Y.R.A. Entertainment was established in 2007 by producer and filmmaker Margarethe Baillou in New York City. Baillou founded the company as a space to foster the development of films which abstain from graphic violence and promote intercultural understanding.[1][2]

In its early years, M.Y.R.A. associate produced the documentary short "Body & Soul: Diana & Kathy" (2007) before producing the video art piece "One After" (2009), the narrative shorts "Telling a You" (2013) and "Le Pardon" (2014), and feature film Drawing Home (2016).

In 2016, the company expanded its global reach by setting up an office in London. Subsequently, the company moved on to executive producing the features Call Me by Your Name (2017), Change in the Air (2018), and The World to Come (2020).

Following its 2021 opening of an office in Singapore, M.Y.R.A. produced the short "And So I Begin" (2022) and executive produced the feature Freud's Last Session (2023).[3]

M.Y.R.A. Initiative edit

In 2016, Baillou launched the M.Y.R.A. Initiative in New York City. Separate from the company's three production branches, but full funded by them, the foundation aims to support children in crisis and promote nonviolence in cinema by "using film, the most powerful medium, in a responsible manner" to "over time, achieve incremental societal change."[4]
