Lonestar Luchador received generally positive reviews. Allmusic's Thom Jurek said that the album "offers a startling collection of sounds and rhythms". Nadine Smith of Pitchfork wrote that "he blends samples of regional Mexican folk music with the thick 808s of Southern rap while delivering blustery rhymes with an unmistakable twang". HipHopDX writer Nina Hernandez praised the album, saying, "On Lonestar Luchador, That Mexican OT proves he's got the rapping skills, artistic ambition, and industry support needed to take the Hip Hop world by storm. With solid backing from his peers and a seemingly endless supply of raunchy imagery to tap, the Texas rapper more than delivers on his underground promise and crashes into the mainstream with aplomb.
