Lola Amour is a self-titled music album released by Filipino band Lola Amour. It consits of 9 tracks, including two singles: Raining In Manila and Namimiss Ko Na.

Background edit

The Album is the band's first ever, and is a result of a lengthy songwriting process, some of the songs having been in the works for a long while, Umiinit, the album's first track supposedly taking 5 years to be produced. Angelo Mesina, the band's trumpeter, states that the band had been working on the album since even before the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] According to the same article, they had planned to release the album in 2023, but following the popularity surrounding their single "Raining In Manila", such plans were put on hold.

Musical style, writing, composition edit

The goal of this album was to show how flexible the band is sonically, all the while keeping their signature sound.[2] This can be heard as they tend to stray a bit further from their rock influences for the most part, the album having a softer, more sincere tone and deeper significations, especially on tracks such as Part: II Bliss, written by lead vocalist Pio Dumayas for a friend lost to suicide.[3]

Release, promotion, marketing edit

The album was released on April 10th, 2024, and has a promotional concert taking place on the 13th of April at Circuit Event Grounds, in Makati[4]. The concert is especially noticeable as it is the band's final concert with bassist Raymond King, who will be departing the band following the event.[5] To celebrate the launch of the album, the band collaborated with Linya-Linya as to create some tee-shirts with the band's logo made out of lyrics from their songs.[6]
