Education and family
editSchlözer was born in Settin, the youngest son of Nestor von Schlözer and his wife Baroness Luise von Meyern-Hohenberg. His brother the Prussian diplomat Karl von Schlözer. On application by their father, the brothers were released from their Russian subject status in 1873.
