Leon Ilyich Kémstach is a Russian actor born on August 1, 2008, in Saint Petersburg. He has appeared in various films and television shows, but is best known for his role in The Word of a Child: Blood on the Pavement. For this performance, he received a FashionTV award for "Actor's Breakthrough of the Year" at the Fashion New Year Awards in 2023.
Biography
editHis mother is Laura Kemstach, an entrepreneur who owns a fitness studio and a medical center in St. Petersburg. She is the wife of actor and director Anton Bogdanov. Nothing is known about the father except for his name and the fact that he has Scottish roots.
From a young age, Kemstach attended private schools in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, learning English, Chinese, German, and French. During his time at school, he also participated in the All-Russian French Olympiad and won a prize. After that, he enrolled at Repton School in Dubai.
In 2021, Bogdanov made his directorial debut with the film Only I Am Normal starring Leon Kemstach..[1]
In 2023, the television series "Word of the Child: Blood on the Pavement" was released, starring Leon Kemstach as the main character[2] , schoolboy Andrey, who joins a criminal gang. During the filming, it is reported that Leon switched to home schooling.[3].
Due to the immense popularity of the series, Leon became famous almost instantly. Critics have praised his performance, with Vasily Koretsky from Kinopoisk considering him one of the two main discoveries of the show, alongside Ruzil Minekaev[4]. Anton Dolin agrees, stating that "Leon Kemstach and Ruzal Minekaev are two actors who bring a fresh perspective to the series"[5]. E
Sergey Efimov notes in his review for Komsomolskaya Pravda that Kemstach's performance is so natural that the full range of his character's emotions is clearly visible[6]
