Design career

edit

Following school, Schwulst worked at the design studio Linked by Air in New York City.[14][15][16] At Linked by Air, Schwulst designed websites for the Yale AIDS Memorial Project, Printed Matter, artist Julia Kim Smith, and the architectural studio, Future Expansion.[17][18][19]

In 2016, Yancey Strickler and Brandon Stosuy hired Schwulst to design The Creative Independent, an arts publication run by Kickstarter.[20][21] In addition to designing the identity and website, Schwulst conducted published interviews with Min Guhong[22], Sara Magenheimer[23], Charles Broskoski (Are.na)[24], Tamara Shopsin[25], Erin Jane Nelson[26], Taeyoon Choi[27], Qiong Li[28], and Tania Pérez Córdova.[29] Schwulst worked as Creative Director at The Creative Independent until 2017.[30]

Schwulst collaborated with artist Sydney Shen on a perfume review website called Perfume Area. In 2015, Schwulst and Shen adapted the website into a book published by Ambient Works, New York.[31][32][33][34]

Since 2017 Schwulst has been working independently. She has designed websites for 'T' Space Rhinebeck, a multidisciplinary arts organization started by architect Steven Holl in Rhinebeck, New York, and Artists Space.[35] She also released an app called Flight Simulator "Ode to Airplane Mode" in collaboration with Soft, on February 5, 2019.[36]
