Kenton Arthur Weir Jr. (born January 9, 1954) is an American politician and Certified Public Accountant
Early life and education
editHe attended West High School before transferring to Garces Memorial High School, where he graduated in 1972. During high school, he attended night classes while working during the day. He later graduated from Bakersfield College with an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting. He then attended California State University, Bakersfield, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Political career
editIn 1992, Weir was elected to the Bakersfield City School District Board of Education
He was re-elected in 2022.
In 2017, Weir was elected as the Chairman of the Kern County Republican Party, which he held until 2020.[1]
In January 2024, Weir announced a write-in campaign for the 2024 California State Assembly election to replace Vince Fong, who withdrew from the race to run for Congress.[2] As it was too late for Fong to withdraw his name from the ballot, Fong was the only candidate, with Weir placing second as a write-in candidate behind Fong.[3]
