Kanha Singh and Vel Singh Or Kanha and Veliya the two brothers are the Dacoits of Jalore and Big devote of Sundha Mata. They have boom of Sundha mata that no one can kill them in Sundha mountain and advice them to not leave mountain. They were known for helping poor people by giving money of Dacoity and they never looted any poor and middle class people. They respect the girls and never rape a girl like other dacoities.[1]
Early life
editKanha and Vela were born in Dhandal Rathore family(clan of pabuji) of Ravana Rajput community in Bhinmal, their Father Dhannaji Dhandal was a farmer and their earning was depending on agriculture[2]. According to the folk songs they know as the son of Bhatiyani as well as their mother was Bhati, Ravana Rajput.[3]
Robbery
editAt the young age they started small robberies. When they caught by police and put in Jaswantpura jail, they left the robbery work but whenever any robbery was done in their village which was not done by them the police put Kanha and Vela in jail without knowing the who was real thief. After many incidents like this they decided to become real dacoits. First they looted small villages surrounding Bhinmal and Sanchore. [1] According to folk songs one day they traveled in train, they ask ticket to train master but master refuse to give them ticket, for this behavior of train master they looted whole train and donated the half loot to Sundha Mata Temple.[4]
Champa Bharwad
editChampa was a Bharwad girl of Gadariya caste, she was a dacoit of Gujarat when she heard about Kanha and Vela, she came to meet them and asked them to join their gang. First they rejected it but after Champa's convince they agreed. After this Champa became the sworn sister (Dharam Bhen) of Kanah and Vela.[2]
Death
editAfter many robberies and dacoities the police was unable to catch them so Rajasthan government ask help to Balwant Singh Bakhasar (a dacoit who help Indian Army during 1971 war[5]) . Balwant Singh invite Kanha, Vela and Champa to join Balwant Singh gang in Bakhasar. Champa first rejected it and remember Kanha, Vela the boon of Sundha mata to not leave Sundha mountain but Kanha and Vela did not hear her advice and left Sundha Mountain. Balwant organized a party of Opium to welcome Kanha and Vela in which he offer special drink which contain poison, by drinking that drink they die and after their death Champa kill herself and their bodies were given to hand of Bhinmal police.[1]

editTheir life story were famous by many folk song and movies of Rajasthan like Kana Veliya Katha.[6][7] During Holi the Meghwal community of Gorwar sang a Phalguna song of Kana Veliya[4]
