Josephine Lee (born 3 February 2008) is an American singles figure skater. She is the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championships Junior Bronze medalist and the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. silver medalist.

Personal life

Josephine Lee was born 3 February 2008 to Caroline Tseng, an attorney and Jay Lee, a Software developer. Lee has one brother named Jonathan, and a dog named Jiggy. She enjoys reading and attends the Connections Academy.[3]

In an interview, Lee said her skating inspirations are Yuzuru Hanyu and Kaori Sakamoto. [4]

Career

Early career

Josephine began skating at the age of 4 after enrolling in Learn to Skate classes.[4] She failed the first Learn to Skate class she took, which she credits as making her more determined to take up figure skating.

2021–22 season

In the 2021-22 season, Josephine Lee qualified for her first U.S. Championships as a junior, earning the bronze medal.[5]

2022–23 season

In 2022-23 season she was assigned to two Junior Grand Prix assignments. After competing on the Junior Grand Prix circuit, she made her debut at the 2023 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, finishing in 11th overall but 4th in the free skate after missing her combination jump in the short program. Combined, her score landed her in 5th place. After her strong finish in the free skate, Josephine was named to the 2023 Junior World Figure Skating Championships team, and placed 19th.[5]

2023–24 season

Lee placed 8th at the 2023 Junior Grand Prix in Austria, and 3rd at the Junior Cranberry Cup early. Josephine Lee and won the free skate and finished second overall at the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.[6]
