José Lluís Viciana Monfort ( 2 July 1951 ) was an Spanish animator, who previously worked at D'Ocon and Neptuno Films.

Career

Josep Viciana studied film at the School of Audiovisual Media of Barcelona (EMAV) between 1981 and 1983. During this stage he made some short films, including the documentary "Vida de "perros".

Viciana's professional career began with the making of different independent short films, between 1972 and 1985, using the SUPER8 format.

Starting in 1985, he specialized in animated series, working as a scriptwriter for the animation production company D'Ocon Films and producing successful series such as "El món màgic del màgic Bruffi" (The amazing world of Bruffi), co-produced with TV3, "Los aurones" (Aurones) or "Los Fruitties" (The Frutties), these two projects co-productions with TVE, and "Delfy y sus amigos" (Delfy and His Friends), broadcast on TVE and on the English channel Sky One.

Viciana has worked a lot with Josep Roig Boada , composer and music producer of most of Viciana's series and films.

Neptuno Films was classified as the second most prosperous production company in Europe according to a study by The Global Animation Business in collaboration with the European animation association CARTOON. In addition, Viciana's production company was chosen as one of the 10 best animation studios outside the United States, according to Animation Magazine.[1]

Many series created by Viciana have had an impact and have been exported to other countries.
