Jose R. Irizarry is professor of practical theology and the 10th President of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Irizarry has held faculty and academic administrative positions at institutions in Berkeley, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. An ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA), he has served as Board director for the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (WJK Press), and as Trustee at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. The first Latino to be elected president of the centenary Religious Education Association, he researches and authors work in the fields of intercultural pedagogy, religion and culture, and the aesthetics of space.
