- Comment: The first source verifies his YOB/YOD, and that he wrote a book. The second doesn't seem to work. The main paragraph remains entirely unreferenced – where is this information coming from? DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:20, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

John Skinner, M.A., D.D., (1851-1925) was a Scottish Anglican divine and academic, and Principal and Professor of Old Testament literature, Westminster College, Cambridge.[1]
His 1910 commentary on the Book of Genesis for the International Critical Commentary series (T. & T. Clark, Edinburgh) was for many years the standard English-language text, and he died in 1925 while revising it.[2] His other books include The Divine Names in Genesis (Hodder & Stoughton, 1914), two volumes of commentary on the Book of Isaiah for the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (1896 & 1898, the first volume also revised in 1915), and Prophecy & Religion. Studies in the Life of Jeremiah (Cambridge, 1926).
Skinner's correspondence with James George Frazer, author of The Golden Bough is held at Trinity College, Cambridge.[3]
