John Palmer Gavit (1868–1954) was a journalist and author in the United States. He wrote books on immigrants, a bibliography of settlements during the Settlement movement, a biography of Charles Evans Hughes, and a reporter's manual.[1] He also wrote a book on colleges.[2]

He was part of the Palmer-Gavit family. The Albany Institute of History & Art hs a collection of their papers.[3] College? The Commons?

He was married to Lucy Lanont Gavit. Their son Joseph Lamont Gavit died of Typhoid.[4]
