Joan Hendrik Tobias was a Dutch statesman.[1]

Career

Joan Hendrik Tobias was a Dutch statesman.[1] Tobias held public office as leader of the Bantam Residency in the Dutch East Indies from 1819 until 1821. Between 1802 and 1857, Tobias had completed more than 10 voyages to Indonesia. Following Tobias' death on 27 November 1857, the Deli Sultanate Plantation Concession Agreement was resigned on 29 November 1857.[2]

Joan Hendrik Tobias' father Herman Antonij Tobias was the Mayor of Zwolle from 1802 until 1808. Joan Hendrik Tobias graduated from the University of Harderwijk with a doctorate in Applied Sciences in 1802.
