Itazuke is a Japanese archaeological site in Fukuoka noted for being seen as transitional between the Jomon period and the Yayoi period. It had v shaped grooves, possibly gutters around the settlement and the presence of both Jomon potterry and early Yayoi pottery. It was found as an early example of a moated settlement and spurred more archaeological worrk on the Yayoi period.[1]
