An Independent Artist, is an artist who gains recognition for songs or releases with the help of a major record label.[1] Indie Artists generally produce their own music, write there own songs and do everything Music related.[2] There are around 9.5 million indie artists in the world, and hundreds of Music distribution that support independent artists.[3][4] In 2019 Jvke's single Golden Hour was signed to AWAL music, which is a distributer that supports independent or indie artists, through JVKE's success he still decided to remain independent[5] Indipendent artists are usually artists that tend to be teenagers who produce music without the help of a major Record label[6] Good examples of Artists would be Gavin Magnus, Cocco Quinn, Jvke, The Veronicas, Chance the Rapper and Phil Wickham along with millions of other artists.[7][8][9]
History
editIndependent Music started in the early 1990's, it was originally founded by Buzzcocks during that time.[10]As of 1995 multiple Genre's of indie music began to rise.[11] The Independent record label for Christian Music, ForeFront Records was founded in 1887 and served multiple independent successful artists such as DC Talk and Audio Adrenaline[12] For modern alternative pop, record labels like Big Noise Music Group, LLC or Liberation records in Australia.[13] [14]
