Draft:Hines Rowing Center

Hines Rowing Center is a rowing boathouse located in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Twelve different clubs use the facility to store their boats and train, including Lower Merion High School, Bryn Mawr College, Whitemarsh Boat Club, and Germantown Academy.[1]

The property at 801 Washington Street sits along the north bank of the Schuylkill River, with a Mount Saint Joseph Academy’s boathouse (a separate building, but still part of HRC) on its left and the joint Harriton High School and Villanova University on its right. Though not located in the Philadelphia boathouse row, Whitemarsh Boat Club, one of the clubs that uses Hines Rowing Center, is a member of the Schuylkill Navy.[2]

George Hines, an alumni and a then-coach at La Salle College High School, and his wife, Lois Trench-Hines started leasing the property in 2001. After four years, the Hines decided to purchase the property in 2005, with Whitemarsh Boat Club using the facility. [3]As time went on, different scholastic and club teams purchased storage space at the boathouse.[1]
