Researcher &Lecturer, International Council of Monuments & sites ICOMOS Expert (CIVVIH (International Committee on Historic Towns and Villages), CIAV (International Committee for Vernacular Architecture) Scientific Committee).
Biography
editDr. Hala Asslan, an esteemed architect and researcher, is a renowned expert in heritage preservation. With an illustrious career in academia and cultural heritage preservation, she holds a PhD in History of Art and Archeology of Historical Periods (with honor), "Thesis: The City of Jableh from the Fatimid period to the Mamluk Period, Archaeological, Architectural and Historical", From the École pratique des hautes études, Paris, and a Master's degree in Comparative History and Archaeology of Medieval Societies (Christian and Muslim World), "Thesis: Ayyubid Madrasas of Aleppo: Archaeological, Architectural & Historical Study" from the Lumière University Lyon 2-CIHIAM.
Asslan is widely recognized for her proficiency in cultural heritage rehabilitation and maintains affiliations with numerous international and regional organizations. Her contributions have been honored with multiple national, Arab, and international awards across various domains, and she was notably recognized globally as TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons) for her groundbreaking academic leadership and accomplishments. Dedicated to protecting architectural treasures, particularly during times of conflict, Dr. Asslan has played pivotal roles in advisory and managerial capacities for several rehabilitation projects. Additionally, she has authored over sixty articles and monographs and has four specialized books. She actively engages in scientific conferences and workshops worldwide, aiming to safeguard and empower Syrian society.
