Gumn is a 2023 Pakistani thriller television series, directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and written by Tooba Siddiqui and Hamza Kazi.[2] It is produced by "Evolution Media Productions" in association with "Multiverse Entertainment".[3][4] The cast includes Tooba Siddiqui and Feroze Qadri in titular roles.[5] The series premiered on 16 October 2023 on Green Entertainment.[6] Gumn revolves around two individuals Maya, a lawyer by profession and Rayyan, a medical student who's sister gets murdered which brings Maya and Rayyan together into a web of crimes, revenge, deceit and suspense. Synopsis edit

Maya, a successful lawyer who finds herself in a fix when she accidentally hits a young man, Rayyan, while driving. Rayyan winds up with amnesia and cannot remember much about his life. While Rayyan slowly works towards unveiling his past, Rayyan and Maya grow closer, developing an attraction. However, when Rayyan's past is revealed, Maya finds out that her father has a direct link to Rayyan and was involved in his sister's murder case.[9]

In April 2021, it was announced that, Khoosat will direct a thirteen episodes series titled as "Gumn" written and produced by Tooba Siddiqui starring herself and Furqan Qureshi in prominent roles.[15][16] It was speculated that the series will air on a newly launched channel Green Entertainment and soon after its launch in 2023 it was aired on Green Entertainment airing episodes twice a week, ending its run on 28 November 2023.[17]

Reception edit

Gumn received positive reviews for its mysterious plot and thrill.[18] Qadri and Siddiqui's performances received praise from the audience. "Niche" praised the portrayal of Maya's character, the element of twist and turn along with emotions submerged in a crime thriller among the main lead couple.[19][20] Maliha Rehman from "Gloss" praised the serial for wrapping up the story concisely while maintaining the element of unpredictability, calling it a must-watch.[21][22]Youlin Magazine also appreciated the series for its camera work, production quality and editing. "Gumn" generated an overall positive response from the critics and audiences making it a success in a genre of Pakistani thrillers.[23][24][25]
