The GentleWave system, also known as GWS or mainly GentleWave, is a system that can be used in a root canal treatment. The system is used in a GentleWave root canal treatment, which is considered to be an alternative to a standard root canal treatment in that it is a minimally invasive procedure that requires only one appointment as opposed to a standard root canal treatment. The GentleWave system involves the uses of fluid and sound waves to clean the root canal rather than instruments to do so. The GentleWaves root canal treatment is capable of reaching all areas of a root canal including the isthmuses, fins, cul de sacs, anastomoses, and other complexities.[1]
The GentleWave system was introduced to the United States market in 2014 and was manufactured by Sonendo in Laguna Hills, California.[1] In 2022, Sonendo announced the release of the next generation of their GentleWave system in the GentleWave G4 System.[2]
