Appearance

Faerie Chess comes in a white box with a blue stripe around it. Each new piece has a card depicting it that also explains the piece's movement.

Gameplay

Faerie Chess plays similar to regular chess, except players have a customizable army, which can be different for both players. However, there are some rules, such as that pieces can only be used in certain "ranks." An example rank is the first rank, where only the peasant and soldier may be used. The peasant behaves like a berolina pawn, ant the soldier moves like a king. An example of a custom army is White replacing one of their rooks with a tower, and Black replacing their queen with a jester.

An example of a starting setup, where Black has a jester, and White has a tower (represented by an upside down rook), and both players have mercenaries (represented by upside down kings). The tower moves like a mix of rook and ferz, the jester moves like a queen, but can't be captured, and the mercenary moves like an alibaba.
