Escape to Rural France is an online channel showcasing daily life of Daniel Preston his ongoing Restoration work on the Chateau De Chaumont in France.
Dan Preston came to the public eye through his YouTube channel "Escape to Rural France". The channel initially showed vlogs about Daniel's family and the restoration of his home in France, a dilapidated ex-bakery which they restored into their family home. Dan became employed at The Chateau De Lalande in 2021 as the gardener and groundskeeper for the Chateau. He earned the name "Dan the Gardener" and became a popular character on both "The Chateau Diaries" YouTube channel, and his own "Escape to Rural France" YouTube channel. Dan started to make short daily vlogs for the channel showcasing his work at Chateau De Lalande, and using interesting b-roll and drone footage for the viewers. In 2022 Dan Preston brought Chateau De Chaumont, an early 20th century Chateau in La Serre Buussiere Vieille France. Chateau De Chaumont was a ruin when Daniel brought it due to a fire that tore through the property in 1986, leaving only the outer walls behind. With the help from funding from daily Vlogs on the YouTube channel Daniel has been restoring the Chateau De Chaumont doing most of the work himself. He also had help from his friends, Nick, Cameron and Calvin, and his family of two Sons and their Mother Annalise. Daniel and Stephanie Jarvis from "The Chateau Diaries" continue to maintain a good friendship, and they feature regularly on one anothers YouTube channels as the renovations continue.
