Elliot Salkow (1953–2021) was a South African entrepreneur and pioneer in the broadcasting technology sector. He was the founder of Ellies Holdings (Ellies Electronics), a company that significantly influenced the proliferation of television broadcasting in South Africa.

Elliot Salkow was born in 1953 and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa with two sisters. In 1979, Elliot Salkow founded Ellies Electronics, initially operating the business from his garage. The company started by selling television aerials, and under Salkow's leadership, it expanded rapidly to become a leading supplier and installer of satellite dishes and decoders.[2]

Elliot Salkow transitioned to a non-executive director role at Ellies Electronics in 2019 and retired from active management a year later. His decision allowed new leadership to guide the company into its next phase of growth and adaptation in a rapidly changing.technological landscape.[7] After 39 years in the electrical industry, Elliot "Ellie" Salkow, transitioned into renewable energy. In 2019, he established Invest Solar with a vision to empower lives through renewable energy solutions. Invest Solar specializes in distributing PV Solar, backup, and other energy-efficient products tailored for residential, commercial, and informal settlement markets. The company customizes its offerings to meet specific customer needs, delivering high-quality products and services through trade counters, resellers, installers, pop-up stores, and e-commerce platforms [8] Ellie Salkow passed away in 2021 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, children, and sisters.[9]
