Dr. Anish Dilip Shah is an Indian businessman who has been the managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Mahindra Group since 2021.[1][2][3] The Mahindra Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate with operations in over 100 countries and operates 150+ subsidiaries across 11 sectors.[4] Shah also serves as the current president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, one India's oldest and largest industrial bodies.[5]

Early Life and Education

Shah was born in Mumbai, India to pharmaceutical executive Dilip Shah, and Smita Shah. He graduated Sydenham College with a Bachelor of Commerce and then attended Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad for his master's degree.[6] He then went on to obtain a PhD from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon.[7]

Career

After his PhD, Shah worked at Bain & Company as a consultant in the US. He spent 16 years in the US, before returning to India as the head of GE Capital in India.[8] Shah joined the Mahindra group in 2014 as the Group President of Strategy[1][8]. In April 2020, it was announced that Shah would become the MD & CEO of the Mahindra Group, effective on April 2, 2021[1]. In 2023, Shah was ranked among India's best CEOs by Fortune.[9]

In December 2023, it was announced that Shah would serve as the president of FICCI for the 2023-2024 term[5].[10][11] Shah also serves as a member of the UK Investment Council, Chair of the Automotive Governor's Council at the World Economic Forum, co-chair of the India Alliance of CEOs for Climate Change at the World Economic Forum, and co-chair of the India-Australia CEO council.[12]
