Draft:Disney Parks Connector Highways

The Disney Parks connector highways are a series of connector highways/interchanges (possibly with some semi-interstate designation) that connect the various Disney parks of the Lake Buena Vista complex with Interstate 4, at various points, all totaling 16.7 miles together, providing motorists with thru traffic through the Disney Parks, such as Walt Disney World and Epcot and even relief from the regular traffic that is commonplace on the local avenues and highways such as Celebration Blvd. and US 192. They include World/Florida Drive, which is 7.8 miles length, the Disney World portion of Osceola Parkway, which is 4.1 miles in length, and Epcot Center Drive, which is 4.8 miles in length.

World/Florida Drive

edit

The World/Florida Drive starts at Celebration Blvd., and the first exit is the interchange which provides access to both I-4 (Westbound and East Bound) and to the FL-417 (which is, at this point, in its southern terminus) northbound. The highway then curves to the right going northbound, as it cross the US route 192 and Osceola Parkway. Drivers then reach the Walt Disney World gates, as the highway goes north, and the highway is sodium-vapor lit, and access to several of the portions of the parks are available. As the highway approaches its northern terminus at Bay Lake, the western terminus/beginning of Epcot Center Drive is reached, where drivers from both directions can enter the highway going eastbound. The highway has several quadruple and tripple-loop exits and interchanges throughout the freeway. As the highways reaches its northern end, it becomes Florida Drive, and continues briefly before reaches its northern end at Seven Seas Drive and becomes an avenue. At the northern terminus is where the entrance to the main Disney World Park is, giving people options of parking options that can fit their affordability and budget.[1]

Osceola Drive

edit

The Disney World portion of Osceola Parkway is a 4.1-mile expressway (completed for good in 2020, with the highway elevation done after 2019, but the span taking a bit longer to complete) that starts after the interchange with Sherbeth Road in Lake Buena Vista. The highway continues, completely sodium vapor-lit, as it crosses with exits and interchanges at W. Buena Vista Drive. Later on, it transverses eastward, with the first major interchange being at World Drive. The next exit provides access into the park itself, as well as into Victory Way (although that is a new exit and extension of the freeway, before 2019, it was a traffic light interchange, thus making it an avenue). The freeway then interchanges with the I-4, and at the eastern end of the interchange, the highway ends at the traffic light interchange for the ramps to I-4 East, on the eastern end. The highway then continues on and off switching between avenue and expressway.

Epcot Center Drive

edit

Epcot Center Drive begans at the northern portion of the World/Disney Drive, and transverses northeast, as circles around Epcot (formerly known as MGM Disney Parks). At the very interchange, when one enters Epcot Drive, there's ramps on both directs for the entrance to Epcot, which has a tollbooth at the ramp. The highway circles and goes southeast as it crosses the interchange with East Buena Vista Drive. The highway then continues goes southeast and crosses the interchange with I-4, in a quadruple interchange loop, providing access into the highway from all directions. The highway then ends and serves as an avenue providing access to Florida route 417.[2]
