Draft:Danish presence in Ceylon

The Danish presence in Ceylon reffers to the small attempt by Denmark-Norway to monopolize and colonize Ceylon. The presence was De jure established in 1618, efter a treaty between Christian IV of Denmark and Marchells Michielsz Boschouver on behalf of Senarat of Kandy, which promised a Danish monopol on all sinhalese trade in exchange for Denmark-Norway to help fight off the Portuguese Empire. The treaty was never ratified by Senarat of Kandy and the Danish presence was gone by 1622.
