Covercraft was founded in 1965 by Bob Lichtmann from his garage in Van Nuys, California, sewing one cover for one customer at a time.[1] In 1993, the company relocated from the San Fernando Valley of California to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma citing a more business-friendly environment. [2]

Covercraft expanded production in the year 2000 after opening operations in Wichita Falls, Texas in a former Levi Strauss factory.[3] The company's founder, Bob Lichtmann retired in 2003.[7]
