Complex Xylaria Hypoxilon is a complex of fungi seen worldwide in the family Xylariacae. The complex was created when taxonomists and amateurs noticed large variation in appearance and spore shape within the species. For these reasons It was warranted that a complex was to be formed. This complex has been debated between different experts as valid and invalid for the past three years and has remained in tension. Currently, the complex is recognized by experts after a resolution in 2024. This complex does not include Xylaria Polymorpha and Xylaria Longipes which look similar but are not closely enough related to apply.
