About the College edit

Cathal Brugha FET College (Irish pronunciation: [ˈkahəlˠ ˈbˠɾˠuː ft ˈkɑlɪdʒ]; ) is a Further Education and Training College located in Dublin 1 on Cathal Brugha Street and Marlborough Street. It is in close proximity to landmarks, such as the Gresham Hotel, the LUAS Green line stations at O'Connell Upper, and Parnell (the southbound spur of the green line runs outside the building), as well as Abbey Street on the Red line. The college also occupies the North Strand FET Campus. The college operated some departments from the now closed Killester campus (until June 2023). The Principal is Patricia O'Keefe.[1].

History of the buildings edit

The building for is famous for being home to the former TU Dublin School of Culinary arts, however it was originally Saint Mary's school of Domestic Science[2] as evidenced by the sculpture of the "Three Graces" by Gabriel Jones[3] on the North West corner of the building, closest to O'Connell Street.

History of the college edit

The college is the consolidation of the former Killester College of Further Education and Marino College of Further Education[5][6][7], which took place in March 2022. The campus will be the main location of all courses offered by the college.

The Marlborough Street campus was the first section of the building to be used at this location.[8] This consisted of the business departments from both colleges, travel and tourism departments, including the culture and heritage course.

Academics edit

The college offers courses and modules for study at Level Four, Level Five, and Level Six[9][10] on the NFQ, primarily through Quality and Qualifications Ireland QQI Certification, however the college does award certification via ITEC[11] and City & Guilds[12]

In March 2023, the college began facilitating the delivery of civil service apprenticeships.[13] in networks and cybersecurity. It also runs a number of Skills to Advance courses[12] in a range of areas from Digital Marketing[12] to international leadership and management[12]
