Brigit Novik (real name Brigit Vinchon) is a singer most well known for her vocals on Pop Muzik by M and was married to the producer Robin Scott at the time. She sung vocals on the majority of the material released as M, some of which were in French.

"In 1978 Scott worked as producer for Barclay in Paris where he lived with his partner Brigitte Vinchon after producing and filming all female punk quartet, The Slits. Still in Paris he recorded early versions of Moderne Man / Satisfy Your Lust, tracks which would ultimately appear on the first album." Brigit who came from a folk/ethnic background, became part of the vocal picture for the first time.

At a later point some role reversing took place and Scott produced the M single Danube for the Stiff label, featuring Brigit Novik on vocals, followed by The Wedding Dance (12" version) presenting Novik as an artist in her own right.
