Bright Data, originally established as Luminati Networks in 2014[1], is an Israeli technology company that offers web data collection and proxy services to businesses and organizations. The company's headquarters are located in Israel, with an additional offices in New York and San Francisco. Since 2018, Or Lenchner has been serving as the CEO of Bright Data.[2][3]

Bright Data provides businesses with solutions to securely gather and utilize publicly available web data.[4] The company's goal is to facilitate informed decision-making by leveraging data at scale. Through the use of a global proxy network, Bright Data enables businesses in various industries, such as market research, e-commerce, cybersecurity, and brand protection, to access diverse data sources.[5]
In June 2023, Bright Data joined the Amazon Web Services ISV Accelerate program.[6]
In July 2023, X Corp has sued Bright Data, accusing it of scraping and selling Twitter's records in violation of terms of service. This mirrors a prior case by Meta Platforms against Bright Data for data harvesting from Facebook and Instagram. In response, Bright Data has countersued, asserting its commitment to making public data accessible and defending its position in court.[7][8]
Bright Initiative edit
In 2021, Bright Data launched The Bright Initiative program, a pro bono collaboration with UK organizations to establish the UK's National Data Strategy (NDS). The company aims to support the country in achieving its social and economic goals by investing resources and expertise in areas such as internet transparency, data skills, and the ethics of data collection.The Bright Initiative expanded in 2023 and includes partnerships with over 700 organizations around the world, including more than 300 academic institutions.[9][10][11]
Bright Initiative program, has created TrendTrack, a real-time tool that tracks trending pro- and anti-Israel content on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Users can easily monitor, engage or report relevant posts. This initiative offers public data to address pressing social issues for public bodies, non-profits, and academic institutions.The development of TrendTrack is in response to the 2023 Israel-Hamas war , providing a tool to monitor trending pro- and anti-Israel content on social media platforms.[12][13]
