Bradley-Weaver are a British artist duo working in sound arts, they are Fari Bradley and Christopher John Weaver. The pair have a shared interest in radiophonic work, found material, DIY electronics and avant-garde improvisation.

After years working prolifically with the Resonance Radio Orchestra in London, Bradley-Weaver conducted a community-arts radio exchange in Bogota, Columbia in 2007 on an exchange with The British Council and ResonanceFM called "Vasos Communicantes". The residency included UN Radio 98.5 FM.[1] [2]

Bradley-Weaver completed a year's residency at Tashkeel, Dubai in 2014 in the United Arab Emirates. In 2015 the artists recorded and released a vinyl record of their improvised collaborations from a custom-made recording booth inside their exhibition[3] This involved local musicians, schools and creatives. The album features a piece of hand woven score on the front, made in the Emirati tradition of Al sadu weaving.[4] , and is named after their solo art exhibition Systems for a Score, on The Vinyl Factory.[5].[6]

Commissioned as artists for Art Dubai they worked with a local opera singer and feral choir to create an intervention within the fair called "Variations for a Space and Its History"[7] , honouring acclaimed British archeologist Beatrice de Cardi's work in the Arabic peninsula region.[8]

Commissioned by Al Serkal Avenue in the pair created a sound walk Tracing the Chora which took participants into Dubai's industrial quarter on foot and featured interviews with local gallery founders and architects notably Dariush Zandi, Carbon 12 Gallery and The Third Line.[9]

The pair completed a residency at Sharjah Art Foundation in 2016, resulting in four radio-phonic works experimenting with the form of radio documentary, which were broadcast both on the now-discontinued arts radio station Clocktower Radio, [10] part of Moma-PS1 and also on Resonance104.4FM in London. The works were broadcast internationally since, including on BBCR4 as part of a three hour show presented by wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson called "The Changing Sound of Radio", and at the opening show of the Media Majlis at Northwestern University. Several artworks by Bradley-Weaver are in the Sharjah Art Foundation's permanent collection.

Works by Bradley-Weaver also feature in the permanent collection of Sharjah's Maraya Arts Centre, where the duo also had a residency in 2017.[11] During that time there were several immersive performances made from recordings and found objects from the duo's time at the Mleiha Archological Centre, Mleiha, and the Sharjah Airport called "Circular Landscapes". [12]

In 2016 they were commissioned by Red Bull Dubai for two large interactive installation works, presenting at Base Camp alongside Matias Aguayo, Dorian Concept and Gilles Peterson[13]

Supported by Arts Council England and The British Council the pair had a solo show Close to Karachi, at the now discontinued gallery space Edge of Arabia, London, based on their month's residency in Karachi, Pakistan with Lahore Biennial Foundation at the Habib University titled 'Metropolis'. Findings from their residency, particularly around field recordists attempts around recording a city[14], and the subsequent work was presented at London College of Communication's Sound Art Department and also at Iniva's Stuart Hall Library alongside John Wynne and Ain Bailey.[15]

The duo have six permanent sound installations at the Lehfayyeh Mountain Wildlife Centre, Kalba, Sharjah. In 2016 they visited Kuwait to perform at the ReUSE arts festival which was streamed on Al Jazeera Arabic.[16] During that period the artists also held a residency in Lebanon at the Beirut Art Center, where they performed their piece "UnMuted Serving".[17]

Both working as individual artists and professionals in sound, Bradley-Weaver also form half of the quartet Oscillatorial Binnage, with a 2016 release "Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds" on Sub Rosa Records.[18]

Christopher John Weaver was manager at sound arts radio station Resonance104.4Fm[19]and director of the Resonance Radio Orchestra. Weaver was awarded Sonic Artist of the Year award[20] at the 2013, BASCAs[21], and Fari Bradley has produced at times as "Fari B"[22]. A prolific radio presenter and artist in her own right, Bradley's various arts residencies and solo shows include Sound and Music's Embedded residencies 2013 [23]. Some of Bradley's most notable publications are a chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Sound Art, 2021, Oxford University Press[24] and her long-form article on Egyptian sound pioneer Halim El Dabh, in Ibraaz online.
