Blink49 Studios is a full-service independent studio focused on the development, production, and monetization of premium scripted and unscripted content for a global market.[1] Headquartered in Toronto with offices in Los Angeles and Vancouver, the company was co-founded by industry veterans CEO John Morayniss,[2] Non-Executive Vice Chair Patrice Theroux, COO Nelson Kuo-Lee, and General Manager Jeff Lynas.[3] Blink49 Studios takes a content-first approach by partnering with best-in-class writers, creators, producers, and talent as well as supporting new and diverse voices.[4]
History
editBlink49 Studios was launched in September 2021, and formed in partnership with its anchor investor and lead strategic partner FIFTH SEASON[4]. The studio was founded by a group of experienced media executives led by CEO John Morayniss. Morayniss is a veteran in the Canadian and international television production and distribution sectors, having previously served as the CEO of Entertainment One Television (eOne).[4]
On October 9, 2023, Blink49 Studios confirmed its first corporate acquisition with a majority stake strategic investment in award-winning production company Front Street Pictures.[5] This acquisition expands Blink49 operations in Western Canada and provides Blink49 the ability to offer a vertically integrated production approach for its developed, owned, and controlled pipeline of content.[5] Front Street Pictures is led by its President Charles Cooper and has been in business more than two decades. The deal provides a strong launch pad to accelerate growth in Front Street Pictures' established MOW-focused film and tv production business.[5]
