History edit

The horseman army of Avars attacked Kazakh (now the territory of Azerbaijan) and then got down on the river iori. The combined army of Kartli and Kakheti, under the leadership of Teimuraz II and Erekle II, blocked the enemy's way out. Opponent followed river iori and stood at the junction of and Danghis. Georgians faced the enemy and won after a fierce battle. Erekle II himself fought in the advanced army and the surviving part of the Avars took refuge in Flatian Hill, but Flate was destroyed and the refugees also died. Georgians captured many prisoners and booty.

After the battle of Danghis, the Avar feudal lords did not dare to march in Georgia for a long time, only a small number of detachments made stealthy raids.
