Barrie R. White (1934)[1] was a British Baptist ecclesiastical historian.
Biography
editHe read theology at Queens' College, Cambridge, 1953-56, moving to Regent's Park College, Oxford to study his DPhil. Completed in 1961. His doctoral was published as The English Separatist Tradition: From the Marian Martyrs to the Pilgrim Fathers (Oxford, 1971).[1]
He was student pastor in Abingdon Baptist Church in 1958, ordained in September 1959 and inducted as Minister at Andover Baptist Church. White became Principal at Regent’s Park in 1972 after nine years as lecturer in Church History.[2]
From 1972-1989 White was the Principal of Regent's Park College, Oxford where he led the college through a period of "great development and expansion".[2] He has been described as the "leading Baptist historian of his generation".[3]
