Animaine, stylized ANIMAINE, is an annual three-day anime convention held in the fall in South Portland, Maine. Despite its small size, the convention has hosted a number of high profile guests and screenings, including the English dub premieres of Loups=Garous, Persona 4: The Animation, and BTOOOM![1].

History edit

ANIMAINE was first held in 2011 in South Portland. It was originally organized by the Anime Defense Project, which now refers to itself as the Animaine Foundation. In 2012, the convention was held over Labor Day weekend, but has otherwise been held in November each year.

In 2012, Sentai Filmworks announced they had acquired the license for Penguindrum and several other titles at the convention[2]. The company announced a rescue of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water the following year[3]
