The Andoain Pedestrian Bridge over Oria (river) in Andoain, Spain, completed in 2005, connects the town center with school and sports facilities on the right bank. It won a design competition held by the Municipality in 2002.
Description edit
The bridge spans 68 meters (223 feet) and is supported by reinforced concrete piers at each end. It's a single-span steel-frame structure, with one pier hidden in the right bank's embankment and the other integrated into the left bank's existing wall.[1]
The deck is 3.6 meters wide and made of weathering steel. It has a slender box girder design, ranging in height from 0.5 to 1.7 meters. The integral design allows for movement caused by temperature changes without needing joints.
Pedelta undertook every phase of the design process: feasibility studies, conceptualization and detailed design, and provided on-site supervision during construction.
This bridge is a practical and elegant solution for pedestrian travel, enhancing connectivity and urban accessibility in Andoain.
