Allen Jeremias, MD, MSc, (born July 4, 1969) is an American cardiologist, researcher, and an internationally renowned leader in Interventional Cardiology. He currently serves as both the Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center and the Director of the Physiology Core Laboratory at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF).[1] Dr. Jeremias specializes in the care of patients with advanced coronary artery disease requiring complex coronary interventions (CHIP) and chronic total occlusion (CTO) procedures.[2]

Early Life and Education
Jeremias earned his MD at the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany. He went on to receive a Master of Science degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his medical training in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland, Ohio. Jeremias spent 2 years at Stanford University School of Medicine specializing in research in intravascular imaging and coronary physiology at the Stanford Center for Cardiovascular Technology (CCVT) under the leadership of Drs. Paul Yock and Peter Fitzgerald.[3] Jeremias completed his clinical training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA which is a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.[4]
Research and Career
As a researcher, Jeremias has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, with more than 7,800 citations, an h-index of 43, and is considered one of the foremost authorities in coronary physiology and intravascular imaging to improve coronary stent procedures.[5]
Since 2006, he has been practicing Interventional Cardiology at Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island, NY where he was an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.[6] He has joined St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center in 2017 where he has been a high-volume interventional Cardiologist.[7]
Dr. Jeremias is the editor of a special issue of Interventional Cardiology Clinics devoted to Intravascular Physiology where he assembled a group of expert contributors to review topics pertinent to Interventional Cardiologists to optimize stent procedures.[8] He also authored a patient-centered book on heart disease which addresses the most common questions that heart disease patients and their families ask about stents and angioplasty.[9] Topics include the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, how and why people develop heart disease, and exactly how a stent works in the body.
Dr. Jeremias is involved in numerous education conferences. He is an Associate Director of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the US’ largest medical conference devoted to interventional cardiology and vascular medicine, and a Co-Director of the annual St. Francis Intravascular Imaging and Coronary Physiology Workshop, teaching physicians around the world on “Precision Angioplasty”.[10]
Dr. Jeremias is a member of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) in New York City where He currently serves as the Director of the Physiology Core Laboratory. For over 20 years, CRF has contributed to key advances in the treatment of cardiovascular disease and played an essential role in bringing innovative new technologies, pharmacologic therapies, and treatment paradigms to patients as well as educating interventional cardiologists globally.[11]
He also serves as the Executive Director of Optimizing PCI ‘OPCI’ an educational platform dedicated to helping cardiologists optimize decision-making in interventional cardiac procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques. Along with this, he is a frequent lecturer on various topics in Interventional Cardiology and a commentator on various medical news outlets.
Jeremias is part of a reality show filmed at St. Francis Hospital (episodes 3 and 4), called ‘The Heart of St. Francis’.[12]
Awards and Honors
Jeremias has been recognized as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly since 2008.[13]
He is a member of multiple prestigious cardiology societies such as the American College of Cardiology[14] and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions[15] where he has been named one of 10 national fellows for the inaugural SCAI Emerging Leader Mentorship Program in 2011.[16]
