editAl halal wal Haram was a book written by imam Yusuf alqardawiy, who intends to provide a masterpiece for the Muslim ummuh towards understanding the famous hadith of the Islamic prophet Muhammad peace be upon him as related by imam Alnawawi in his forty hadith collection known as the arba'un Alnawawi narrated by one of the companions of the prophet, the prophet saying "indeed lawful act are plain and indeed unlawful act are plain and between them are mischievous act......
So he named his book Al halal wal Haram to discuss the plainly described act backing up each act by reason of it being lawful or unlawful. The word Al halal (الحلال) in Arabic means something lawful, the word halal and mubah were used interchangeable in Arabic meaning the same, while in the contrary Al Haram (الحرام) is an Arabic word used to describe something unlawful, so the author ventured into the work with sole aim of acquainting the Muslim ummah with an indepth knowledge their day-to-day activities, either fallen into the lawful category or the unlawful. In doing so he divided the book in chapters, given each chapter a heading and under each chapter we have various subheadings.
