Adeshola Cole (born 1981)[1] is a British-Nigerian entrepreneur.

Early life and education edit

Cole was born in Hackney.[1] She grew up in Birmingham, where she was the only Black person in her school, and she endured racial abuse based on her skin color and appearance. She was placed in foster care from the age of two until eleven. This foster experience strained her relationship with her biological parents and also presented difficulties with her mother during her teenage years.[1][2]

When the situation with her foster parents became overwhelming, Cole's parents decided to take her to Nigeria for cultural immersion. She attended International School Lagos and later enrolled at Lagos State University, where she obtained a Second Class Division degree in English literature.

Career edit

Returning to the UK, she initially took up various odd jobs,[1] such as cleaning and working in a bakery, until she eventually secured employment at a bank. This opportunity opened doors for her to enter the professional world.[3]

Honors edit

Cole was listed on Forbes as Forbes Woman of the Year 2018.[4]
