Draft:Adedayo Adeniyi

Adedayo Adeniyi (Dayo Nigeria) is a Nigerian author, professional speaker, an expert in the field of training and coaching people for peak performance and a community mobilizer who has written books and articles on the subject of leadership and active citizenship. He is a patriot who brands himself in the national colours (green and white) of Nigeria through his cloths as a way of encouraging more people to love their country because that is the first step to being interested in actively participating in making the country work. He is a mentor to many young people across Africa and beyond.

Early life and Career edit

He was born in Ibadan and moved to Osogbo when he was six years old where he completed his primary and secondary education. He is the last born in a family of five children. He grew up in a home where his parents exemplified selfless leadership, integrity and discipline, same values that his works are built around today.

Dayo has volunteered with numerous organizations and served as the National Field Officer of GEMSTONE Nation Builders Foundation and during this time, he supervised the expansion of the campus leadership network of the organization from 4 active campuses within Nigeria to 42 other campuses within Nigeria and other parts of West Africa through his excellent human relations and communication skills. He is currently the Founder of Matadors Leadership Institute, where his work encompasses a wide range of areas including governance and leadership, international development, youth advocacy, and community building for social action. With over a decade of experience in building organizations and implementing social impact programs, he has worked with a variety of notable brands in the private, public, and civil society sectors. He also uses the platform to address the challenges in the educational system by organizing capacity building training for secondary school students and create an opportunity for them to connect with mentors who would guide them through decisions around what to do and be in life.

His wealth of experience in the areas of leadership education, youth advocacy, international development has earned him speaking slots on some of the reputable platforms globally including being a TEDx speaker, he has been on the Social Media Week panel multiple times and facilitated training sessions with big brands in Nigeria, Kenya, USA and Ghana.

He initiated the Osun Girls Can Code project with the support of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria and other international[1] and local organizations. Through the project, we have introduced three hundred schoolgirls and sixty female teachers to STEM education in Osun State[2].

He has authored five books, including "Atunko Idari," which is the first leadership book to be written in a Nigerian indigenous language.

Tertiary Education and Professional Development edit

He had a brief stint at Yaba College of Technology where he studied Mass Communication from where he proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. He also has Civic Leadership Institute Training Course Certificate from the Staley School of Leadership Studies, Kansas State University, Kansas, United States of America and other certifications on: election monitoring and best practices, values based leadership training, people management within organizations and professional coaching. He is currently a graduate student at the George Washington University, Washington DC, USA.

Philosophical and/or political views edit

[1]Dayo is a strong believer in the philosophy that it takes a transformed people to transform any society and the role of the individual is too important to be downplayed. [2]He is also a strong advocate for youths and women getting involved in the political activities and also the leadership of societies because of the tremendous power resident in these two demographics. He believes leadership is about responsibility and every individual has a duty to be responsible in their communities to make the world a better place for everyone.

[4]He was recognized as one of the 1,000 outstanding young leaders committed to impacting the continent from Sub-Saharan Africa and was selected to participate in Mandela Washington fellowship for Young African Leaders an initiative of the US President, Barack Obama. He is the scribe of the US Government Exchange Alumni in Osun State, Nigeria.
