Adam Scroggin (born February 25, 1975) is an American software engineer, electrical engineer, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of LFT Software and LFT Health and owns a large portion of Software Engineering Professionals (SEP)[1].

Early life and education edit

Scroggin was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was adopted as an infant by, Robert and Karen Scroggin. Robert, a Certified Public Account (CPA) worked for Kiwanis International, Indy 500 Festival and owned his own accounting firm. His mother, Karen, worked at JCPenney for over 25 years. His biological mother was an American Irish Catholic, and his biological father resides in Indianapolis, IN.

Scroggin, was raised Catholic and grew up in suburbs of southern Indianapolis, Indiana. His maternal great grandparents were poor Irish immigrants who came to America during the Great Depression of 1929. He attributes his early interests in electronics and technology to his maternal grandfather, Harold F. Werner[2], who managed the special projects division for Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis for 34 years[3]. Harold taught him about tube amplifiers, electrical circuits and how to operate FM radio stations.

Scroggin went to both Center Grove and St. Barnabas Catholic schools for his primary education. Scroggin got his first job as a paperboy at age 13 working for the Indianapolis Star newspaper..

After graduating from Center Grove, Scroggin attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering with an emphasis in software engineering and digital signal processing (DSP). Scroggin worked with UNIX on the Engineering Computer Network (ECN), was a research assistant and was a teaching assistant for a transistors class. He later attended Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis for his Master’s degree in Computer Engineering but did not finish.

Engineering and business career edit

Scroggin started as an embedded software engineer and worked for SEP[4]. He worked in the automotive sector designing and building safety critical systems for Allison Transmission, GM, Lexus and Acura. He later moved into medical devices, healthcare and neuroscience working for Abbott and Hospira. Within 8 years at SEP, Scroggin moved into management and business development.

Scroggin holds four patents with the USPTO. Scroggin has also created several small software companies including TeamWorks[5], Telescope App[6] and CardBoard It[7].

In 2022, Scroggin founded a new company LFT Software which holds several subsidiaries. His intent was to build "a different kind of company where ethics matter and employees are treated very well".

Hobbies edit

Scroggin an avid skater.  He has been in several skateboard videos with Life After Death being his latest. In addition, Scroggin learned to play piano starting at age 7, played in the Purdue Jazz band as well as three college bands. He also plays the bass guitar. He is an avid studier of history, theology, boxing and linguistics. He has also managed several soccer teams at Indy Premier.

Personal life edit

Scroggin has one brother, Chad and several adopted and foster brothers and sisters. Through his parents involvement in the foster system in Indiana.

In September of 2000, Scroggin married Kathleen Munson in Lafayette, Indiana. They have two daughters, born in 2003 and 2005.

Scroggin is Roman Catholic, but also studies other religions including Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. In May of 2021, Scroggin began writing his first book based on his experiences in business and life.
