Angela Giovann Giarratana was born on October 1st, 1993, in Santa Clara, California[1] to Ray and Deborah Giarratana and is the eldest of two children. Giarratana's mother started her in Groundlings in Los Angeles at a young age. It is unknown whether she continued Groundlings as she became independent.
Giarratana studied at Performing arts schools for both elementary and high school from which she graduated with high honors in 2012 to then go on and study Theatre at the UCLA school of Theatre, Film, and Television. Her acting career, however, began before her 2016 graduation. She played Hipster #2 in Season two, episode two of 2 Broke Girls, which aired on her birthday only months after her high school graduation.
During her time at UCLA, she joined the college's performance group "Company" and continued to perform in the over one-hundred and fifty near-weekly shows that went through Company throughout all four years of her attendance, also acting as a writer for the sketches and as a singer/songwriter, as well as acting in and producing short films with her group during that time.[2]
After her graduation in 2016, Giarratana went on to act in, produce, direct, and write for over 50 titles in the next ten years. These titles included shorts, sketches, theatre performances including musicals, standup and improv comedy, and a feature film, performed across a variety of channels including in-person stage performance, livestreaming, and, recently, YouTube as well, appearing on Smosh ever since August of 2022.
Along with Giarratana's acting profile, she is also known for her alto singing voice and instrumental talent, including both piano and guitar, and boasts the ability to simultaneously play an instrument and sing.
Credits and rise to fame
editGiarratana is known for her acting role of Sylvia in season one, episode 5 of the TV show, "Minx" which aired in March of 2022.
Her feature film credits include an acting role as Miss Mills in "The Tiger Rising" which first premiered in 2022, but began filming in 2019 (when Giarratana would have began working on the project).[3]
Although Giarratana had already worked on twenty-three titles before her incorporation into the Smosh cast, this is when her fame started taking off, a noticeable spike in her following occuring in 2023 and her fans doubling in size across all social media platforms just between May of 2024 and July of the same year, claiming celebrity status in early-mid 2024.
She was invited by the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2023 for her production work on the short film "Sperm Bank" and appeared on the red carpet that year at the film festival.[4]
Her projects have also been both nominated and awarded at the Sundance Film Festival in Los Angeles, including one of her most recent short films, "Guts".[5][6]
Giarratana also hosts a podcast, The Artists On Artists On Artists On Artists Podcast, with three other creatives.[7]
She is seen continuously in credits along with other up-and-coming names in the industry such as Grayson Propst, and Margaux Susi.
